Erin and Nick

Buffalo, New York

There’s something special about a couple who embraces classic details and traditions at their wedding, but isn’t afraid to add a few twists to make their day unique to their relationship too. Erin and I met a few years ago through work I did for The Celebration Society, where she served as editor, and I was truly touched when she invited me to be a part of her and Nick’s Buffalo, New York wedding.

High school friends turned college sweethearts, Erin and Nick couldn’t imagine becoming husband and wife anywhere else but their beloved hometown. From the invitation suite featuring custom watercolors of their venues, to the church where the ceremony took place (the same church Erin grew up attending, and that both her and Nick’s families still attend), to the late-night snacks they served (Nick Charlap’s ice cream and Anchor Bar chicken wings), so many elements of their wedding expressed the deep roots they have in this special place. I wasn’t the only one who made the trip to Buffalo for this joyful celebration, and I loved the way Erin and Nick made sure to acknowledge and love on every guest who came to their wedding during a receiving line after the ceremony.

Adair of Dairing Events helped bring Erin’s “Anthro-Americana”-inspired design vision to life, and did a beautiful job. Celebrating the location once again, the Club’s navy-crested chargers were a perfect fit for the table design and a book of Buffalo’s history was displayed for guests to write their well wishes in. One of Erin’s favorite details was one that involved her new mother-in-law—Nick’s mother made her famous homemade caramels as a gift for every guest. They were as tasty as they were meaningful!

Erin and Nick, thank you for the joy of capturing the start of your marriage, your beloved family and friends, and the beautiful place where your love story began. I know that plenty of adventure awaits in your new home in Ohio, but Buffalo will always hold so many treasured memories, especially now!
